The only reason I can think of that would make the picture show up sideways is if when it was taken the camera angle was accidentally flipped the wrong way from how you were holding it. I've done that plenty of times myself lol.
If thats not the case, I dont really know what else it could be, but maybe you could try and edit the photo so it turns the right way...?
